It was an intriguing wish, for it would have meant that Charles would have been succeeded by a King Arthur – the same name as the legendary, fictional hero who presided over Britain in medieval times.

Princess Diana, however, had objected. Indeed, she and Charles argued over what to call their son.

Diana also won the toss over what to call their second son. Instead of Henry or Harry, Charles had wanted Albert – the real Christian name of his grandfather, King George VI, who adopted the name when he became King.
