Princess Anne has more than once been named the hardest-working member of the Royal Family and now she is set to take on another role that has a sweet link to Prince Philip.

The dedicated royal carried out 457 engagements in 2023, according to analysis from the Sunday Telegraph, and has taken on a third of all royal engagements in 2024 so far.

Now, the Princess Royal is to become the president of the In & Out Naval Military Club with “immediate effect”.

Her late father, Prince Philip the Duke of Edinburgh, had been a member since 1947 and President since 1979.

A letter sent to members confirmed that Princess Anne had taken up the role, revealing: “Her Royal Highness, The Princess Royal has kindly agreed to assume the role of President of the In & Out Club for an initial period of 3 years, with immediate effect.”

The letter continued: “Members will recall that our first president, HRH Prince Philip, the Duke of Edinburgh passed away on 9th April 2021 having been a member since 1947 and President since 1979.

“It is a great honour for the Club to have a second Royal President, and we are very privileged that Her Royal Highness has accepted our invitation, especially considering Her existing commitments.”

The late Duke of Edinburgh shared an especially close bond with his only daughter, Princess Anne, he even taught her how to sail and she would often be a spectator at her father’s polo matches.

Body language expert and author Judi James said the father and daughter share similar body language traits and “a very like-minded approach.”

The expert previously said: “She is very much the chip off the old block as far as Philip is concerned and their body language throws up many more similarities, suggesting a very like-minded approach to life and being part of the Firm.”
