Cooper Koch revealed that Kim Kardashian reach out to him about Monsters: The Lyle and Erik Menéndez Story.

The actor played Erik Menéndez in the Ryan Murphy and Ian Brennan Netflix series. He was nominated for his portrayal at the Golden Globes this year for best performance by a male actor in a limited series, anthology series or a motion picture made for television category. The award show took place on Sunday evening, and he was nominated along with Colin Farrell, Richard Gadd, Kevin Kline, Ewan McGregor and Andrew Scott. Colin Farrell took home the honor for the HBO show, The Penguin.

Before the star-studded ceremony, Cooper spoke with Heather McMahan from E! Live From the Red Carpet and he shared which celebrity Monsters’ fan slid into his DMs, disclosing that the SKIMS founder did.

In another interview before the Golden Globes, Cooper shared to Extra’s Billy Bush that Kim texted him to wish him luck, wanting him to win and “to have a great night.”

He went on to say, “She’s so sweet and I’m sad she’s not here.” In response to Billy’s question about what he messaged back, he said that he wrote that he wished she was coming, thanked her and said he loved her. The 28-year-actor also disclosed that he was wearing SKIMS underwear.

This comes as Cooper joined Kim, her sister Khloé Kardashian and their mom Kris Jenner to visit the Menéndez brothers at San Diego’s Richard J. Donovan Correctional Facility in September. The brothers are currently serving life sentences since 1996 for murdering their parents.

The They/Them star and Kim spoke to the brothers about their Green Space project that aims to beautify the prison’s environment to aid in rehabilitation. Copper at the time, told PEOPLE how “nervous” he was before meeting the brothers.

“I had spoken to both of them, so I knew we already kind of had a camaraderie, and they knew where I stood. I told them I supported them and I believed them,” he elaborated.

“I had a feeling they were going to welcome me with open arms, but still so nerve-racking to meet someone who you’ve been listening to and are inspired by,” he continued.

Cooper added how when the moment came where he met Erik, “there was an immediate connection.”

“I got to hug both of them, and I sat next to Erik in this circle with all the other incarcerated individuals who were telling their stories, and they were both so kind. They’re amazing people.”
