CHAMPION LOSES BELTS: Edgar Belanga KOs Canelo Alvarez in the 6th round, the 23-year-old showed all his skills to the fans.
When Edgar Belangar demanded a KO win over Canelo Alvarez in the 6th round, the Mexican boxer felt like “I want to do it”.
Canelo said he also wanted a KO win in the match to defend his WBA, WBC and WBO super middleweight titles at T-Mobile Arena this Saturday.
In response to the statement “I will KO Canelo in the 6th round of the Chosen One”, Canelo responded right away in the face-to-face meeting before entering the ring: “It is easy to say that you will knock me out, but it is much harder to do it!”.
“This Saturday night, everything will be very difficult for him. I have also prepared for such a KO victory. I love the feeling of a KO victory. I will try my best to do it”.
At T-Mobile Arena, Canelo will defend his 3 WBA (Super), WBC and WBO championships. The reason he did not defend the IBF title after “unifying the world” in his weight class (similar to Oleksandr Usyk in the heavyweight division) was because of the trouble related to the organization’s No. 1 Challenger.
According to the IBF, he had to have a mandatory title defense against the No. 1 Challenger of the IBF super middleweight, William Scull (a Cuban currently living in Germany, with a record of 22 wins). But in the end, he chose Berlanga as his opponent.
For his part, Berlanga once again affirmed his ambition to win by KO. He promised about the match that will take place on Mexico’s Independence Day: “It will be a fierce shootout. I will make everyone a believer.”
“I am an artist of the KO game. Any boxer when he enters the ring, wants to win by KO. We know that he is a legend, and we simply will not just swing our arms and attack him.
“We have to win the KO the right way. Win the KO in the 6th round. That is what we will do. But we are also ready for a 12-round battle if it has to be like that,” Berlanga strongly affirmed.
He is 34 years old this year, has been in the professional boxing ring for the past 19 years (since 2005), has gone through 65 big and small fights (won 61, 39 KOs – lost 2 and also drew 2), has Canelo slowed down, has he become dull?
The Mexican boxer affirmed that it is not so: “I just want to prove to everyone that I am still the best. I still love and crave this sport. When I stop loving, you will know right away”.
