Nearly two months after filing to drop her father’s surname, 18-year-old Shiloh has completed the next step in the name change process in California (USA).

According to People , Shiloh posted a story in the Los Angeles Times announcing that she would be dropping the “Pitt” from her last name. The story stated that Angelina Jolie’s daughter had filed to change her name to “Shiloh Jolie.”

California law requires that a petitioner publish their request in a newspaper for a month before a judge grants their name change. When Shiloh paid to have her name changed in the Los Angeles Times , her request for a name change appeared in the newspaper’s legal notices section.

When Shiloh filed the petition in May, a source close to the matter told People that Pitt “knew it and was upset.” The Hollywood star was reportedly upset and said that Shiloh’s decision to drop his last name was like losing a child.

“This is obviously not easy on Brad’s emotions. He loves and misses his kids so much,” the source shared.

People recently reported that the war between Pitt and Jolie did not only occur after their divorce in 2016, but actually existed throughout their years together. The reason is said to be the two’s conflict in how to raise their children.

The actor born in 1963 grew up in a disciplined, orderly, rule-based environment. Therefore, Pitt is quite strict and wants to set many rules for his 6 children. On the contrary, the Hollywood star guides his children to be independent, free to do what they like but must put responsibility first.

In another development, Jolie recently reportedly asked her ex-husband to stop the fight and drop the lawsuit over a property dispute in France.

Brad Pitt’s representatives have declined to comment on the matter. Previously, the actor’s side has emphasized that the estate lawsuit has nothing to do with what happened on the 2016 flight. They claim that Jolie is trying to turn the business dispute into a divorce lawsuit.
