Rapper P Diddy wanted to ‘party’ with princes Harry and William in their youth, inviting the brothers to “hang out”. The music mogul – currently facing sex trafficking, racketeering and fraud charges in America – was seemingly impressed with their lifestyle.
He was even pictured with the royal pair in 2007, at a concert in memory of Diana, Princess of Wales. An unearthed interview with the 54-year-old, whose real name is Sean Combs, sees him talking about William, 42, and Harry, 40, in 2011 on the Graham Norton Show.
He told the Irish host he often wanted them to attend one of his lavish soirees, with the host pleading: “Don’t ruin our royal wedding for us.” They were chatting just weeks before William wed Kate Middleton with his decision to settle down prompting Combs to reply: “Trust me, they’re off the list.”
He added: “Before when they were young bucks growing up and they were getting in a lot of trouble themselves, so, hey, I was like, ‘Why don’t you come hang out with me?’” Harry especially was known for his love of partying in his youth including one infamous trip to Las Vegas where he was pictured naked in a hotel room.
Combs is one of the most iconic rap artists and producers of all time and has won three Grammys. A 14-page indictment reveals parties were dubbed “freak outs” during which people were allegedly drugged and raped.
He remains jailed without bail in New York on federal charges alleging that he ran a vast network that facilitated sexual crimes and committed shocking acts of violence, using blackmail and other tactics to protect Combs and those close to him. He pleaded not guilty to racketeering conspiracy and sex trafficking. His lawyer said he is innocent and will fight to clear his name.
A new lawsuit was filed against him in federal court in New York on Tuesday. Thalia Graves alleges that when she was 25 and dating an executive who worked for Combs in the summer of 2001, Combs and Joseph Sherman lured her to a meeting at Bad Boy Recording Studios.
