Immediately after winning against French world champion Yannick Borel, Egyptian fencer Mohamed Elsayed performed a very unique celebration. The 18-year-old fencer immediately took off his helmet, revealing his joyful face.

Elsayed quickly ran out of the arena, jumped into the air, spun around, landed with his feet shoulder-width apart, beat his chest proudly and shouted: “Siii!”

It is not difficult to understand Elsayed’s extreme excitement. Because this young fencer has just unexpectedly defeated an opponent who is rated much higher than him. However, Elsayed cannot bring the CR7-style celebration back to the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, because in the fencing quarter-finals, he had to accept defeat against Ukrainian athlete Ihor Reizlin.

Elsayed impresses Olympic audience with Ronaldo’s famous celebration

This celebration style was started by the Portuguese superstar when he was playing for Real Madrid (2009-2018).

“The word ‘si’ in Spanish means ‘okay’ or ‘so cool’. Every time I score a goal at Real Madrid, my teammates say: ‘Cristiano! Siii!’. I don’t know why people say that so often, but it comes completely naturally to me,” Ronaldo shared about his “trademark” goal celebration style.

“Every time I celebrate that way, I see that most of the fans feel very excited and enjoy it. So, I decided to stick with this way of celebrating.”
