Rihanna has opened up about family life in a new Q&A with Interview, revealing her eldest son, RZA‘s, first word.

During the sit-down with Mel Ottenberg, Interview‘s EIC and Riri’s former stylist, the mother discussed her partner, A$AP Rocky, their children, and their family’s overall fashion sense.

While most assume a child’s first word will be along the lines of “dada” or “mama,”

She revealed that her first born’s first word was actually “Hey” after she would regularly sing “hey, hey hey,” to the infant.

“I used to try to get his attention all the time, and I would say, ‘Hey, hey, hey.’

And one day he said it back to me in the same melody and I kept singing it and he kept following it over and over again.”

She added that sons RZA, who is one-month shy of two-years-old, and Riot, 8 months, have “racks and bags” of clothes that she dresses them in, even while most assume dad Rocky is the one making sure they’re draped up and dripped out.

“It’s more like I spend my time getting the kids dressed to death, and then I’m like, ‘What’s the most comfortable outfit to wear around them? What’s not going to feel uncomfortable on their face or on their body or make me feel like I can’t hold them properly?’ Moms are lazy dressers in real life.”

The billionaire artist added, “I have racks, I have bags. They’re all sized and organized, and then whatever gets too small for RZA, I put into bins so that Riot can have them next. Riot is actually in all of RZA’s 1-year-old clothes already. He’s only six months. Everybody thinks Rocky dresses them because I dress them in Rocky outfits.

While Rihanna may have been A$AP Rocky’s “Fashion Killa” muse, she concedes that he tends to get much flyer than she does these days.

“Isn’t he the best?,” she said of Rocky’s taste level. “I be feeling bummy as sh*t next to this man. I feel like, godda*n, I look like his assistant. I’m getting on a plane. We should be in sweats. He wants to be in a full Bottega suit. I’m like, ‘Why you got to do that to me?’”

She later explained how she and the Harlem native ran into each other in fashion circles for years before deciding to date proper in late 2019.

“We saw fashion the same. We saw creative the same. We ended up in the same circles a lot. And past that, when we grew up, we ended up supporting each other’s brands and products and creative all the time. I would wear his shit, he would show up to my launches. But it wasn’t until the end of 2019.”

“We’ve known each other for a long time,” she went on. “I’ve seen him in relationships. He’s seen me in relationships. We’ve seen each other outside of relationships. We knew what we’re capable of, and the trouble that we could bring to each other’s lives. We can make or break each other’s hearts. And so, we started dating with a lot of caution.

“I just let whatever was supposed to happen, happen. It was just, ‘This is a flower. It’s either going to die or blossom. But I’m going to let it decide itself.’”
