The Chase aired one of its most memorable moments ever when players Karen and Ian walked away with a life-changing amount of prize money, marking the biggest win in the show’s history
The Chase viewers couldn’t believe their eyes as contestants Karen and Ian hit the jackpot with a staggering £100,000 win, one of the highest in the show’s record.
The pair faced off against quiz maestro Paul Sinha resulting in an epic battle of wits. Sinha, known on-set as The Sinnerman, brought to the table years of experience since joining in 2011 with a background as both a doctor and comedian.
With just one correct answer standing between Sinha and triumph, television presenter Bradley Walsh posed the critical question: “Lesley Manville played the widow Cathy in what BBC sitcom?”.
The Sinnerman’s guess ‘Last of the Summer Wine’ was off mark, giving contestants Karen and Ian a sliver of hope. Yet, when it came time for them to answer, confusion set in and they failed to nab the point, reports the Express.

In a frenzied last ditch effort, Sinha tried to correct his mistake, but to no avail; time was up and Karen and Ian were declared the winners of the massive £100,000 pot.
Shock was written all over Karen and Ian’s faces as the reality of their win sunk in. Karen was left breathless with amazement, managing only to whisper in disbelief: “Oh my God! “.
Even presenter Bradley was astounded, remarking on the skin-of-their-teeth victory: “That was close. Six attempts to push back, only two executed. The chaser needed one.”

Ian and Karen’s outstanding performance landed them one of the most sizeable prizes ever awarded on the show, with a grand sum of £50,000 each.
Looking back at the show’s 16-year history, the biggest win in 2023 saw three contestants split a £120,000 prize, each pocketing £40,000 after outsmarting chaser Mark Labbett.
Another memorable moment was the final chase of 2018 when team members Gayna, Tim, Luca, and Diane divided a hefty £100,000 pot.
As for individual records, the most memorable victory was when Eden, a 20 year old contestant, scooped a massive £75,000. In a showdown with chaser Darragh Ennis, Eden managed an 18-step lead and clinched the largest single-player win ever on the show.
The Chase is broadcast weekdays at 5pm on ITV and can be streamed on ITVX
