Adrian Newey’s former schoolmate and internet personality Jeremy Clarkson recently insinuated that the Red Bull aero wizard’s move to Aston Martin is more likely than one to Ferrari. He dropped the hint during the 2024 F1 British GP grid walk.

On May 1, 2024, Red Bull formally declared that Newey would be leaving the team after 19 long and successful years. The reigning world champions also mentioned that he will continue to work on Red Bull’s RB17 supercar project, but would no longer be involved in the development of the F1 team’s car. After the development of the supercar is over, he will entirely depart from the company.

Soon after the announcement, rumors circulated that Newey was being courted by several F1 teams to join them in the future. At first, there were rumors that the car designer was being pursued by Mercedes, McLaren and Ferrari. Autosport, meanwhile, recently reported that Aston Martin is also in advanced negotiations with the Briton.

This rumor has now been further supported by Jeremy Clarkson, famous as a presenter on the TV series “Top Gear”. During the British GP’s grid walk, he told Viaplay that Newey is looking for a new home in Oxfordshire, and not in Maranello.

This was a clear hint that the Red Bull aero wizard is not looking to move to Ferrari. Instead, he will remain in England and reportedly join Aston Martin in 2025.

“I know Adrian Newey is house-hunting in Oxforshire, not Maranello,” Clarkson said.

As of now, neither Adrian Newey nor any team has confirmed anything about the designer’s move.

F1 pundit explores Adrian Newey’s potential move to Aston Martin after aero wizard’s ‘secret’ visit to the team’s factory

F1 pundit Craig Slater reported Adrian Newey’s recent visit to Aston Martin’s factory at Silverstone in June. The Sky Sports presenter said that Newey visited Aston Martin in secret, with no staff or media that could potentially leak anything.

Moreover, Slater added that Adrian Newey even met with the team’s owner, Lawrence Stroll, and talked about his personal terms with him.

“Newey did indeed visit the Aston Martin factory a couple of weeks ago. This was almost a behind-closed-doors event. Aston Martin kept staff away, they did not want news of this visit leaking out,” Slater reported.

“Newey toured the campus, met with Lawrence Stroll, the team owner, and personal terms have been discussed. My understanding is Aston Martin can meet Newey’s personal demands, although they are very considerable indeed,” he further revealed.

Working with some of the best teams in the sport, including Williams, McLaren and Red Bull, Newey has dedicated his entire life to F1. His cars have done wonders on the track, winning 13 drivers’ and 12 constructors’ titles.
