Lewis Hamilton’s emotions peaked after winning the 2024 F1 British Grand Prix, as he shared a passionate message with engineer Peter Bonnington at the end of the race. This marked his first win since Saudi Arabia in 2021 and the team’s second win this season.
Starting the race in P2, Hamilton’s competitive and consistent drive saw him win his record-extending 104th Formula 1 Grand Prix. This win had been long overdue, as Mercedes lost their dominant spell in the 2022 season.
The British driver has now set a new F1 record with the most wins at a single circuit (9), beating Michael Schumacher’s eight in France and Hungary.
As he and his race engineer, Peter Bonnington, dubbed “Bono,” celebrated the victory, Lewis Hamilton sent out an emotional message that went viral online. After the race, Bonnington screamed on the radio:

This is my last race here the British Grand Prix so I wanted to win this so much for them because I love them, I appreciate them, all the hard work they’ve been putting in all of these years. I’m forever grateful to everyone on this team, everyone at Mercedes, and all of our partners,” he added.
