Lewis Hamilton finally ended his 945 days long win drought in F1 last weekend at the British GP. The seven-time world champion made history by becoming the first driver in the sport to win a race beyond his 300th start. Now, former Red Bull F1 driver Mark Webber has praised Hamilton’s stellar performance during the weekend.
Webber reckoned that the seven-time world champion was in ‘beast mode’ on his home turf. The Australian driver highlighted than when Mercedes predicted rain for the latter half of the race, Lewis Hamilton was no less than a shark in the ocean. So much so, that Mark Webber insisted that the British driver had smelled blood.
It was beast mode - home turf. I think it was the back of the first stint when they're talking about rain coming, this is him smelling blood at that point. That's like a shark in the ocean.Mark Webber said on Channel 4
Moreover, the former F1 driver claimed that Lewis Hamilton took charge when it came to making decisions during the race by instructing his team regarding what he wanted. Hamilton even told his race engineer Bono to leave things to him on team radio.
He grabbed that race by the scruff of the neck, the key decisions, he drove the team. ‘This is what I want. This is when I want it, and I'm going to deliver.’ So cool heads.Mark Webber explained

Mark Webber claims he’s a ‘big fan’ of Lewis Hamilton
Lewis Hamilton is statistically the most successful driver in the history of Formula 1. However, the 39-year-old had faced a tough period in the past two years as he failed to win a single race. This was evident as Hamilton burst into tears right after winning the British GP. The Mercedes driver admitted that he couldn’t stop crying post-race.
I'm a big Lewis fan. I know I said he's on the fringe of results but [I questioned] 'Where's that motivation? Where's that mojo? But you give him a flash of something like we saw, then stand back.
Mark Webber stated
Certainly, Lewis Hamilton seemed rejuvenated after clinching victory at Silverstone. The seven-time world champion became the first driver in history to win nine races on the same track. It is clear, that Hamilton still has what it takes to battle it out at the pinnacle of motorsport for the time to come.
