Yet another instance of the YouTuber trying to stir up another potential opponent.
Jake Paul has claimed the undefeated Floyd Mayweather is ‘scared’ to face him in a professional boxing bout.
In yet another instance of Jake trying to stir up another potential opponent, the YouTuber believes the man who has never lost in 50 professional fights is afraid of him.
Mayweather hung up his gloves back in 2017 after defeating UFC star Conor McGregor to hit that magical 50-0 record.
He’s fought a few exhibition bouts since, including one against Jake’s older and frankly more likeable brother Logan.
There was a considerable size advantage going to the IMPAULSIVE host on that occasion with the retired fighter giving up 35lbs (16kg).
Jake was heavily involved in the build-up to his brother’s matchup with the legendary boxer, and at one stage even stole his hat which almost led to an all-out brawl between the pair.
Despite clearly disrespecting Mayweather on that occasion, Paul surprisingly showed a little bit of respect in his own roundabout way when speaking on his new show BS w/Jake Paul.
Paul was chatting with undisputed lightweight champion Devin Haney about all-time great athletes when Mayweather’s name came up – with the YouTuber turned boxer agreeing with Haney’s assessment.
He said: “Floyd, we respect you, bro.
“I took your hat, but if you ask anyone in my camp, I always talk about how awesome you are and how legendary you are. So we respect Floyd on this side of things, even though I know you’re scared to fight me as a real professional bout.”
Ah, there it is.
It was almost seeming a bit too respectful coming from Jake until he had to throw in that sly dig.
As he mentions, Mayweather won’t want to fight Jake Paul as it would have to be a professional bout rather than an exhibition fight.
And not because the undefeated former champ is afraid of putting his 50-0 streak up against Paul’s 5-0 streak, but more because simply getting the two to match weights would be close to impossible.
Mayweather’s highest career weight had him weighing in at 156lbs (70kg), while Jake’s lowest has been at 181lbs (82kg).
Jake’s team has made the claim that Paul could get to 175lbs (79kg), however, that’s still a fair bit more than Mayweather could feasibly train at.
The social media star hasn’t fought anyone remotely close to the level of Floyd Mayweather, having defeated YouTuber AnEsonGib, basketball player Nate Robinson and MMA fighters, Ben Askren and Tyron Woodley.
Meanwhile, Floyd Money is regarded as one of the best to ever do it, holding world titles in five different weight classes.
