Lewis Hamilton unraveled the details of the special moment with his father during the 2024 British Grand Prix. Hamilton hugged his father Anthony after claiming the victory at Silverstone on Sunday.
For the first time in 945 days, Lewis Hamilton stood at the of the podium, and he lived every moment of it. After battling two hard years, the seven-time world champion finally picked up a victory, and as a result, could not hide his emotions. One such moment was with his father, whom he hugged after he parked his car at Parc Ferme.
When asked about the moment in the post-race interview, the 39-year-old said:

“Oh God, I don’t remember, I think he said ‘you really needed, you really wanted that one didn’t you?’ and I said ‘yes’. That’s just it, yeah.”
Formula 1 was in the United Kingdom for the third race of this year’s triple header. This was the 12th race of the 2024 season, and Hamilton held off Max Verstappen and Lando Norris to take home his ninth British GP win, the most by a driver on any circuit.
Lewis Hamilton continued Mercedes’ winning streak after the Silver Arrows arrived at Silverstone, fresh from George Russell’s victory at the Austrian GP in Spielberg. F1 next moves to Belgium up next for the last race weekend before the summer break.

The 2024 British Grand Prix was Lewis Hamilton’s last British race in Mercedes colors. The seven-time world champion is all set to leave Brackley for Ferrari on a multi-year deal at the end of this season.
On the occasion of his last race in the black overalls, Hamilton revealed the importance of winning this race. His emotions erupted as he crossed the finish line.
“I can’t stop crying!” Hamilton stated. “It’s been since 2021, every day getting up, trying to fight, to train, to put my mind to the task and work as hard as I can with this amazing team. This is my last race here at the British Grand Prix with this team, so I wanted to win this so much for them, because I love them, I appreciate them so much, all the hard work they’ve been putting in all over these years.
“I’m forever grateful to everyone in this team, everyone at Mercedes, all of our partners. Otherwise, to all our incredible fans… I could see you lap by lap as I was coming around, and there’s just no greater feeling [than] to finish at the front here.”
