Megan Thee Stallion has hit out at the double standards she has experienced within the rap world saying women are dragged over the coals for content that male musicians would never be challenged for.
The 27-year-old musician – whose real name is Megan Pete – has enjoyed chart success with the number 1 smash WAP which she collaborated with Cardi B on, her own hit Savage, featuring Beyonce, and has a new song out called Sweetest Pie with Dua Lipa.
But while the star has enjoyed the acclaim and success that her work has delivered, one thing she doesn’t appreciate is being criticised for using coarse language in her raps.
Megan has hit out at the differences in opinion when it comes to men rapping verses the shock that is expressed when women do the same thing – with her latest single featuring plenty of x-rated innuendo and lyrics.

She said during an interview on 26-year-old Dua’s At Your Service podcast: “A boy could start rapping about popping pills and enjoying four women at one time and nobody would have a problem with that.
“But if Megan Thee Stallion says, ‘Eat my p***y’ one time, there’s uproar. Like, ‘You better not ever say that word again in your life’.
“I definitely have to let people know that pleasure does not go one way. So if you get offended by a woman talking about how she likes to be pleased, then I think you need to take a step back and re-evaluate what you’re into.”
She went on to declare that it’s not just words that women are scrutinised over, it’s their wardrobes too and that men aren’t under pressure to look incredible on stage.

She said: “It definitely is a crazy double standard. But I feel like we are girls, right, and sometimes I just have to take it as everybody knows that we are superior.
“So they expect us to arrive as the superior beings that we are. I feel like we get critiqued so heavy because everybody just knows that women are the s**t.
“So they are looking for us to be the s**t all the time.”
For the music video of their collaboration, Megan and Dua certainly draw attention with their styles.
In one scene, Megan strips down to nothing but a very small pair of underwear as she cavorts around in the video – while another scene shows her wearing a bejewelled swimming costume.

The video features a dark fantasy land where the ladies sing and dance their way through a thick forest of trees and dance alongside male and female dancers.
Away from the fantasy world of the music video, however, life might be feeling much too real for Dua – who has found herself embroiled in lawsuits.
The singer’s hit single, Levitating, has come under scrutiny with two separate copyright infringement claims made against it.
Florida based band Artikal Sound System have accused the British star of copying elements of their song Live Your Life.
While songwriters L. Russell Brown and Sandy Linzer claim the song sounds like a rip off of their songs Wiggle and a Giggle All Night and Don Diablo.
