Oleksandr Usyk has been handed a suspension just days after his stunning victory over Tyson Fury in Saudi Arabia.
Usyk beat Fury by split decision to become the first undisputed heavyweight champion since 1999 when Lennox Lewis toppled Evander Holyfield.
Two of the three judges scored the bout in favour of Usyk, who claimed the WBA (super), IBF, WBO and WBC world titles in the process,
But the Ukrainian, who improved his pro record to 22-0, will be stripped of the IBF title as the organisation are set to make the decision in the coming weeks.
After the fight, the 37-year-old was swiftly taken to hospital for a suspected broken jaw, but he was given the all-clear.
However, according to BoxRec, the newly-crowned undisputed champion has been medically suspended by the British Boxing Board of Control until June 2.
The suspension won’t have too much impact on Usyk’s career as he won’t be competing any time soon.
Following back-to-back training camps, which included a camp for their cancelled showdown in February, he’ll have a break before potentially running it back with the ‘Gypsy King’ in October.

Speaking about Usyk’s condition immediately after his 12-round war with the previously undefeated Brit, Alex Krassyuk said: “When we went to the locker room [after the fight], the local doctor came to inspect. Usyk felt some discomfort in his upper jaw. The doctor said that anything could happen, and this is a very sensitive area, so you need to be inspected as fast as possible.”
He added: “Nothing major. He went to the hospital after the press conference, they made the exams and it’s something like one week recovery. Thank god. He’s safe and sound.”
Usyk, who was undisputed cruiserweight champion before moving up to the heavyweight division, now boasts wins over Anthony Joshua (x2) and Fury as he enhanced his already-legendary boxing career.
