Michael Jackson and Donald Trump‘s friendship was a pleasant surprise to Melania Trump. During an interview with DuJour, she recalled how her relationship with Trump opened up all these avenues that she dreamed about. One of the perks she mentioned was meeting Jackson, which was probably a surreal moment for the former First Lady of the United States.

She shared that they were invited for a dinner at the Pierre Hotel in New York by Jackson. After dinner, Melania recalled that Trump went into the other room to see Jackson’s art collection. She shared that the host suggested they start kissing when Trump comes back just to make him jealous. Melania shared with DuJour:

I met Michael Jackson. It was here in New York in the Pierre Hotel. He called us, so we went over and we had dinner. Just after dinner, we were chatting on the sofa and my husband went into another room to see some art somebody wanted to show him. And Michael said to me, ‘Hey, when Trump comes back, let’s start kissing so he will be jealous!’

Melania Trump confirmed that they didn’t go through with the plan. She shared, “No, no, no. But we were laughing so hard.” It is not sure how well Trump would have responded to that joke. Trump also helped Jackson tremendously during his relationship with Lisa Marie Presley.

According to Trump, Jackson and Presley got close during their stay at Trump’s Mar-a-Lago in Palm Beach, Florida. Trump shared in his book The Art of the Comeback (via The Glass Files):

I was there, and the magic of Mar-a-Lago brought it out, because after they left, it didn’t work so well. I can tell you, for at least a period of time, these two folks were really getting it on.

Interestingly, Jackson and Presley spent a lot of time at the Trump Tower before they finally tied the knot.

Since Michael Jackson’s passing, Donald Trump has had several opinions about the singer. He maintained Jackson’s innocence in the child molestation allegations. In 2015, he shared in a “FriendlyFriday” tweet that Jackson was very misunderstood.

While Trump himself believed that his comments were all with good intentions, Jackson’s family was not impressed with some of these remarks. During a CNN town hall meeting as part of his presidential campaign in 2016, he shared about Jackson (via ABC News):

He lost tremendous confidence because of honestly bad, bad, bad surgery. You can even lose your talent.

Jackson’s brother Jermaine tweeted in response to this comment, sharing, “Friends don’t pay tribute by peddling b.s. theories.” While Jackson’s family is not happy with Trump, fans couldn’t help but wonder what MJs stand would’ve been on Trump’s current politics.
