Tyson Fury has left fans gobsmacked after revealing how much money he has in the bank in a recent interview. The British boxing legend’s career took a stumble earlier this year when he was defeated by Oleksandr Usyk, his first professional boxing defeat on record. The Gypsy King, now 36, has suggested his priorities may have changed since that bout in May to prioritise financial incentives after the Ukrainian fighter stripped him of his belts.

All hope is not lost that Fury could reclaim these straps, however, as the two have organised a rematch for later this year on the 21st of December, but as rumours circle that the Brit could be moving out of the prime of his career, the boxing legend says his priorities must shift with them. He now says his first question when asked about a fight, an advertisement, or promoting something is simple: “How much?”

Tyson Fury’s Priorities Have Changed

Fans were left even more intrigued as he dropped a crucial potential detail about how much money he might have in the bank. When discussing this transition of priorities and how his mindset looks today, he explained: “Andy Lee never had £200 million in his bank to make him happy, did he? So what is my goal, and what is my target?”

Fury then answered his question and made it unreservedly clear: “It’s not a belt. It’s not a legacy. It’s not a boxing fight. It’s to make as much money as possible.”

GIVEMESPORT’s Key Statistic: Tyson Fury hinted that he’s currently got £200 million in his bank account.

The former heavyweight champion also gave fans a hint as to the lengths he may be willing to go to to realise this financial dream. He explained that in order to really maximise his opportunities financially in the second half of his career, he will most likely fight until the ripe old age of 50!

“I’ve got to have as many fights as I can until the wheels fall off this b****, until I’m 50 years old and until I’m crippled with a stick walking down the street.”

Fury hinted he’d be proud to go out like that because “all the greats did” and that rinsing everything you can out of a fighting career is the way it is in the sport. Of course, Fury is not someone who’s always stuck by everything he’s said in the past, so fans can’t get too hopeful that this is confirmation we’ll see the Gypsy King fight until he’s 50. However, it does certainly seem that even if we see him lose again in the rematch to Ukrainian champ Usyk, it certainly wouldn’t be the last we’d see of him.

Fury did also, however, clarify his position that his love for fighting still very much remains alive, and his goal for money won’t impact the effort he puts into the ring or any potential results in fights in the future. Speaking again in this passionate interview, he said: “When I’m in a fight, I’ll die in that motherf****** ring, I don’t care! But before that fight, if the business doesn’t make sense, I’m not interested.”

Fury certainly isn’t the first fighter to become more business-smart as his career goes on, and he won’t be the last, and fans can seemingly look forward to a lot more of the Gypsy King in action moving forward.
