Cardi B shut down a Twitter user saying Eminem rejected a request to be featured on her in-progress sophomore album, and that Em made a judgmental comment in the process.
An account with under 2,300 followers wrote, “Insiders Report: that Eminem has now declined a ft request for Cardi B’s upcoming project: says ‘she doesn’t care about the culture or her craft.” A subsequent tweet added, “Don’t shoot me I’m just reporting what the insiders said.”
“BIG LIES….I get off the internet and ya makin shit up ,” Cardi replied to an account alleging Em declined the opportunity to work with her. “I haven’t sent no songs to no artist yet. Love his work and much respect. This don’t even make sense.” She offered a couple more comments along the way, including, “y’all laughing about this fake rumor but wait until y’all see these next collabs.”
Follow-up tweets from the original account point toward the move being a troll and/or clout-chasing.
With her response, Bardi also inadvertently revealed her album doesn’t appear to be as close to finished as we’d hoped, which, on the bright side, means a collaboration between the Bronx rapper and Marshall Mathers isn’t out of the realm of possibility someday.
Following the success of her song “Up,” which hit No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100, Cardi has had to dispel more rumors, including whether or not her latest track hit the top due to radio-play payola. “They love to run with that ‘Payola’ to make them feel better,” she wrote on Instagram. “Mind you, I didn’t [debut] number 1 because of my low radio play and WAP barely made radio cause it was so explicit yet still made number 1.”
With “Up,” Cardi earned her fifth No. 1 record on the chart, becoming the woman rapper with the most No. 1 singles in history.
