Carlos Sainz shocks the world by signing for Williams following Lewis Hamilton’s Ferrari move

Carlos Sainz had continued to face massive uncertainty over his future in Formula 1. The Spaniard decided to take his time with the final call before locking in with a team. The 29-year-old was considered for multiple impressive constructors mid-way through the season. However, Sainz has finally decided to declare his contract with Williams for the coming season.

Audi came forth with one of the most lucrative offers for Carlos Sainz after his exit from Ferrari. However, Flavio Briatore‘s arrival in Alpine opened up Sainz’s possibility to the French constructor.


Regardless, the 29-year-old’s rumors of being in talks with Williams flourished as he finally decided to go with the Grove-based outfit.

Carlos Sainz has locked in with Williams for a multi-year deal as the new regulations of the 2026 season were just released. Hence, the Grove-based constructor must have put forth massively promising prospects for the 29-year-old. As a result, Sainz will run the 2025 season as a Williams driver and pair up with Alex Albon in the team.

Carlos Sainz ‘happy’ to announce his move to Williams Racing from the 2025 season

The Spaniard had previously noted that he was unaware of the unnecessary rush on the contractual decisions. Regardless, Sainz reckoned that he was happy to announce his multi-year deal with Williams Racing. Additionally, the 29-year-old pointed out that the drivers’ market was ‘extremely complex’ in the 2024 season due to the numerous openings.

I am very happy to announce that I will be joining Williams Racing from 2025 onwards. It is no secret that this year’s driver market has been exceptionally complex for various reasons and that it has taken me some time to announce my decision.

Apart from this, Carlos Sainz believed that Williams Racing was the ‘right place’ to continue his journey in F1. The Spaniard was proud of joining a team with such a rich heritage and history in the pinnacle of motorsport. As a result, bringing Williams back to their older winning ways was one of Sainz’s major goals at Grove.

I am fully confident that Williams is the right place for me to continue my F1 journey and I am extremely proud of joining such a historic and successful team. The ultimate goal of bringing Williams back to where it belongs, at the front of the grid, is a challenge that I embrace with excitement and positivity.

This means that Logan Sargeant would be ousted from Williams immediately after the 2024 season. The American driver’s declining performances was one of the major reasons behind this. Regardless, the entire situation would be extremely exciting for Sainz and his fans in the world of Formula 1.
