Princess Diana’s former butler talked about how Prince Harry and Meghan Markle differ to the Prince and Princess of Wales.

Prince William and Princess Kate’s main difference from Prince Harry and Meghan Markle has been pointed out by Princess Diana’s former butler.

Paul Burrell, who worked as a butler for the late Princess of Wales and as footman to Queen Elizabeth, claimed the new Prince and Princess of Wales have a special “realness” about them which makes them stand out from most other royals.

Speaking on behalf of Slingo, Mr Burrell claimed the couple have nothing “false” about them, whereas with the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, “you just don’t know what to believe”.

He explained: “That realness is also with William and Kate. I don’t think there’s anything they’re hiding.

“I don’t think there’s anything false about them. I think what you see is what you get, whereas Harry and Meghan, you just don’t know what to believe. That’s the difference between the two camps.”

Mr Burrell added that the same realness can be seen in Zara and Mike Tindall, who were labelled the Royal Family’s “way forward”.

The former royal butler claimed that Mike has done “incredibly well” to step over the line in the royal world “yet keep one foot in the real world”, noting that the transition is not always so smooth for those entering into the monarchy.

On top of that, he said that Mike is “exactly the kind of guy Zara would go for” as she was always set to pair up with someone who had “lived in the real world”.

He said: “Mike Tindall has done incredibly well to step over that line into a royal world and yet keep one foot in the real world. He must have a very balanced mind to cope with both entities because as we know, those incoming into the family have suffered in the past, and they’ve not always done well.

“But Mike, coming from a sports background, has done incredibly well, he must just be a very nice guy. I’ve never met him, but he certainly seemed that way when he appeared on I’m A Celebrity.

“He seemed to be a very grounded, down-to-earth guy, but then that would be the guy that Zara would go for. She wouldn’t go for an old Etonian, she’d want somebody who lived in the real world.

“Mike brings his realness to that equation and he’s a great asset to Zara and his family. They’re very happy. They just call it as it is, and I think that’s the way forward. ”
