Donald Trump was the only president to ever refuse to drive into the palace, instead opting to fly in via helicopter – and the Queen was left ‘fuming’.
The late Queen Elizabeth II was reportedly “fuming” with Donald Trump for his disregard of palace etiquette, according to Royal expert Roya Nikkhah.
On Tuesday’s episode of This Morning, Nikkhah revealed that the former US president had ignored instructions to drive into Buckingham Palace during a visit, choosing instead to arrive by helicopter – a first in terms of protocol breaches.
The Queen was left reeling as Trump’s unconventional mode of transport damaged the surrounding areas during takeoff and landing.
Speaking with ITV hosts Joel Dommett and Rochelle Humes, Nikkhah shared her insights, stating on “good authority” that Trump is the only president who refused to drive in and out of the palace.
He opted instead to fly in and out with his helicopters, scorching the Queen’s lawns in the process.
Donald Trump ‘really annoyed’ late Queen
Nikkhah further disclosed how she came to know of the Queen’s displeasure, revealing: “The morning after she saw Scott Morrison, the then Australian Prime Minister – and I’m told this on good authority – that she was fuming.”
She added that the Queen showed Morrison the damage, saying ‘he scorched my lawns’. “She showed Scott Morrison, ‘he scorched my lawns’. So I can tell you he annoyed her as well,” concluded the Royal correspondent.
The conversation then shifted to Meghan Markle and Prince Harry, who are currently touring Colombia, as stand-in hosts Rochelle and Joel praised the former Suits actress, reports the Mirror.
A segment on the show highlighted Meghan Markle’s impressive fluency in Spanish during her appearance as a panellist at the “Afro Women and Power” event in Colombia.

Rochelle Humes commended the Duchess for her dedication to learning another language, while Joel Dommett playfully remarked that Prince Harry hadn’t followed suit.
This week saw Rochelle and Joel stepping in as presenters while regulars Ben Shephard and Cat Deeley enjoy a summer break.
Viewers will be delighted to hear that the familiar ITV faces are set to make their comeback in just a few weeks.
This Morning, airs weekdays on ITV1, from 10am.
