Tim Tszyu has nothing but respect for IBF super welterweight champion Bakhram Murtazaliev but plans to take his title on October 19.

The Australian superstar held court in Las Vegas this week before the Prime Video clash, discussing his impending challenge at the Caribe Royale Resort in Orlando, Florida. Tszyu aims to win back a version of the 154-pound crown following the former WBO titleholder’s loss to Sebastian Fundora.

It will be no easy task for Tszyu, though, which is the Aussie puncher’s usual M.O. Speaking about his latest fight, Tszyu addressed the Vegas media.

“I bring the heat every time I get in the ring. I’m coming in with aggression on October 19. I’m leaving with that IBF belt,” promised Tszyu. “Murtazaliev is a dog. That always presents a tremendous task. He’s strong, and he’s got a competitive edge. I’m looking forward to fighting someone like that.”

On sharing a bill with his forthcoming foe, Tszyu added, “I was on the same card as Murtazaliev once. I remember thinking he was tall, but most of my opponents were taller than me. We gave each other a little eye-to-eye like we knew we’d see each other down the road.”

Outling his ambition to get back on top, Tszyu stated, “I just love the fight game. I enjoy the thrill of it. But I also appreciate the progression. I want to get better. I’m never satisfied. I always want to move on and go after the next target. That keeps me motivated.

“I love it here in Las Vegas. Boxing is so big here. I went to the Canelo fight and saw the love and passion. That’s what boxing is all about. My cut from my last fight feels good now. It’s in the shape of a v, so I’m saying it’s ‘V for vengeance.’”

Addressing his only defeat, Tszyu concluded, “Could’ve, would’ve, should’ve, my last fight is all in the past. I have to move on and look for answers another way. The biggest lesson I learned from the Fundora fight was to focus on the present.”

On the night, Johan Gonzalez and undefeated heavyweight prospect Dainier Pero back-up Murtazaliev vs Tszyu. The three-fight card begins at 8 p.m. ET/5 p.m. P.T., exclusively on Prime Video for all Prime members in the United States and select countries.
