For the past 15 years, the Country Music Association has ushered in the holidays with the highly-anticipated CMA Country Christmas special. This year’s ceremony saw Trisha Yearwood and Amy Grant returning as both hosts and performers.
Much to the delight of viewers, the iconic duo once again teamed up for a melodic rendition of Grant’s 1982 hit “Sing Your Praise to the Lord.”
Fans React to Trisha Yearwood, Amy Grant Performance
For the second straight year, Trisha Yearwood and Amy Grant took the stage during Tuesday’s (Dec. 3) CMA Country Christmas special in Nashville, Tennessee.
The pair were a natural choice to host the special, as the Christmas holds an important place in both of their hearts. Amy Grant has established herself as the undisputed “Queen of Christmas,” hosting an annual Christmas residency at the Ryman Auditorium with husband Vince Gill. And in 2016, Trisha Yearwood and country superstar husband Garth Brooks released their own collection of holiday favorites, called Christmas Together.
In addition to hosting, Yearwood joined Grant in performing her 1982 hit, “Sing Your Praise to the Lord.” Written by contemporary Christian legend Rich Mullins, “Sing Your Praise to the Lord” was the lead single off Grant’s 1982 breakthrough album, Age to Age.
Amy Grant Talks Co-Hosting With Yearwood
Trisha Yearwood and Amy Grant have inevitably run into one another at various events over the years. However, the 2023 CMA Country Christmas special was their first opportunity to spend some actual quality time together.
“I’m most looking forward to singing with you, Amy, because, I mean, we’ve known each other. We see each other at events and we get to hang out a little bit,” Yearwood said ahead of last year’s special. “But to get really to spend some time together has been really nice.”
Grant agreed, adding, “Crazy thing is, I mean, Vince [Gill] has known you for a long time and loved you, and you feel so familiar to me. That’s been my biggest excitement about this and sharing music [together].”
