The upcoming fight between Mike Tyson and Jake Paul is as much awaited as it is controversial. With the fight night is only two weeks away, both boxers have almost revealed their every card in the buildup to the fight and it has not been pretty. While both boxers have claimed to be ready and motivated, there is a huge cloud of uncertainty looming over the event
Mike Tyson, the youngest heavyweight champion in history, is not so young anymore and is having evident health issues. The fight, which was previously supposed to happen on July 15th, is now happening on November 15th at the AT&T Stadium in Texas, because Tyson suffered an ulcer flare-up just two weeks before the previous set date. The treatment approach by the 58-year-old left several fans worried and confused. Now, SNAC founder Victor Conte has also mentioned those procedures highlighting the risk that Tyson is taking just by stepping into the ring on fight night.
Where is the upcoming fight between Mike Tyson and Jake Paul scheduled to take place?
Madison Square Garden
Staples Center
AT&T Stadium
MGM Grand Garden Arena
Conte called out the open use of testosterone by Mike Tyson and how risky it can be for the former heavyweight champion during a boxing match. He wrote, “Tyson has openly talked about using testosterone. This fight may be great entertainment but it could also be a recipe for disaster for the health of Tyson.”
The Brooklyn native, known for his unconventional health treatment and therapy, explored various methods for boosting his testosterone levels, one of which included the use of Synthetic Testosterone and Performance Enhancement. At the time, in June, the 58-year-old was promoting his partnership with Ocenture, a company based in Florida
Furthermore, Conte then asked a valid question: “Did Tyson possibly get a TUE exemption from the Texas commission?” considering the promoted substance by Tyson had been banned by both World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) and the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation (TDLR).
The 74-year-old then criticized both of the boxers stating that the approach for this fight has been a recipe for disaster. Adding to that, he also talked about the negligence that both Jake Paul and Mike Tyson are showing for the sake of the show.
Conte added in another post, “If there has been no random drug testing for either fighter then this event could possibly end in a way that nobody wants 2 see happen,” implying the possible risks that can lead if both fighters go into the fight untested. According to the World Boxing News, Tyson has not gone under any medical tests leading up to the fight yet. It has been reported that Iron Mike will undergo a full official medical checkup, just 24 hours before the fight, which is not a very good sign.
Victor Conte then mentioned the dangerous nature of boxing and how people are afraid to talk about the real safety issue now. “Boxing is a dangerous sport & boxing scribes these days are mostly podcast fans boys who are afraid 2 ask important questions about health & safety issues.”
He finished his point by pointing out the desperate need for transparency for this fight and implied that the lack of tests can be because of the boxers’ choice since “It does not seem 2 be a matter of available funds.” While both boxers and TDLR have taken optimum safety measures to ensure a good fight, the risks mentioned by Victor Conte are still valid and chances of a disaster happening during the fight are still high.
What do you think about Victor Conte’s opinion on the fight? Do you think both Mike Tyson and Jake Paul should undergo random d**g testing in the lead up to the fight as well? Let us know your thoughts down below.
