The football legend has revealed he will not swap shirts with one club’s players.
Football legend Cristiano Ronaldo will never swap shirts with players from one club, and the Portuguese striker has revealed exactly why.
Having won almost every trophy available to him in the sport, Ronaldo is regarded by many as one of the greatest best players of all time alongside long-term rival Lionel Messi.
With five Ballon d’Ors and a cabinet full of trophies won for both his club and country, the Portuguese striker’s talents are undeniable.
Therefore, it comes as no surprise that when they come up against Ronaldo on the pitch, many of the forwards opponents ask the the star player to swap shirts with them.
However, Ronaldo confirmed that he refuses to swap shirts with Roma players because of an incident during a game in 2007.
Playing for Manchester United at the time, Ronaldo and co. were up against Roma at Old Trafford.
After losing the first leg 2-1, Sir Alex Ferguson’s men produced a vintage performance to win 7-1 in the second leg.
Speaking to the Daily Express back in 2018, Ronaldo revealed he received threats from some Roma players during that night at Old Trafford.
He said: “When it was 6-0, they asked me to stop, an opponent begged me to stop dribbling.
“Others threatened to hurt me. Roma? There is no player with whom I would exchange a shirt.”

However, it is now unlikely that Roma players will have the opportunity to play against Ronaldo again in the future after the forward shocked the football world as he made the decision to ditch European football to move to Saudi Arabia in December 2022.
Ronaldo signed for Saudi Professional League side Al Nassr after his second stint with United ended in dramatic fashion.
Since the 38-year-old’s move, clubs within Saudi Arabia have been spending big to lure other big names to the country.
In the months following Ronaldo’s transfer, players like Karim Benzema, Neymar, Roberto Firmino, N’Golo Kante, Fabinho and Sadio Mane have all made big-money moves to Saudi Arabia.
